Paediatric Sports & Clinical Massage
We offer paediatric sports and clinical massage sessions which are 30 minutes long and speicalised to address the unique anatomical and physiological needs of children and adolescents. A parent or carer will be required to attend the appointment with any child under 18.
Clinical Applications
Beneficial for:
• Youth athletes requiring injury prevention, performance support, or rehabilitation
• Children with postural syndromes (e.g., upper crossed syndrome, flat feet, scoliosis)
• Adolescents recovering from orthopedic surgery or fractures
• Patients with hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) or Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)
• Neurodiverse children experiencing somatic tension or sensory integration challenges
Benefits:
• Improved circulation to enhance tissue healing and metabolic waste removal
• Neuromodulation through stimulation of mechanoreceptors, contributing to reduced pain perception and improved proprioception
• Myofascial release to address soft tissue restrictions that may impede movement or contribute to pain
• Lymphatic stimulation to support immune function and reduce oedema post-injury
Therapeutic Goals
-
Injury Prevention
Address muscular imbalances, monitor joint mechanics, and reduce soft tissue overload—particularly important during rapid growth phases.
-
Rehabilitation Support
Massage can be integrated alongside physiotherapy or medical treatment to enhance tissue healing and restore functional movement patterns.
-
Muscle Tension and Tone Regulation
Particularly helpful for children with high muscle tone, postural imbalances, or spasticity-related conditions.
-
Improved Biomechanics and Motor Patterning
By influencing neuromuscular control, massage may improve coordination and proprioceptive awareness.
